  3. This document describes new features added to MacJDic.  If you have never used MacJDic before, just read the MacJDic Manual and skip this file.  If you have used MacJDic before, just read this file, and skip the Manual (although it has been rewritten).

  5. Version 1.2.2 (7/2/94)

  7.      Fixed bug which caused Kanji with no readings or meanings to cause problems (thanks Gaspard Gendreau)
  8.      Fixed copy, cut and paste (thanks again GG)
  9.      Made it so that when no matches are found, it just puts up an alert and doesn't clear search string (lots of people wanted this)
  10.      Fixed a bug which made radical searches with a stroke limit fail (thanks Joel Schulman)

  12. Version 1.2.1 (6/8/94)

  14.      This version was mainly to fix a couple of bugs in 1.2.0.  The first is that if you tried to type in roman text when using WASTE, it would switch to the Japanese keyboard after every key.  Also, it was not responding to the quit apple event, so if you tried to shut down with MacJDic running, you would have to quit manually.  These two bugs have been fixed.
  15.      I've gotten email from a bunch of people who have gotten a strange error when trying to generate the index files, and the reason was that they had downloaded 'edict' or 'kanjidic' in text mode.  You must download the dictionaries in binary mode.  I have added a check to MacJDXGen to try to catch this problem.

  19.      The biggest change in this version is the use of the WASTE text engine © 1993-1994 by Marco Piovanelli.  WASTE only works with System 7.0 or later, so if you are using an earlier version of the system, the program will still work, but you won't get the added benifits of WASTE.  These benifits include inline input in the search field, no more 32K limit for the search results, and support for triple clicking to select lines.  As an added "feature", the output window scrolls through the results as they are added.
  20.      I've also added support for the newest kanjidic (not yet released at the time of this release).  The new kanjidic has a distinction between normal readings for kanji, and those that are only for names.  In MacJdic, they are separated from the other readings by a 'N:' in the reading field.  Also, I've made the kanjidic parsing code more robust, so when new fields are added kanjidic in the future, MacJDic will just ignore them, until a new version is released.
  21.      You can now set your preference for whether or not to use the "Autopaste" feature.  There is a menu item under the Edit menu that lets you turn Autopaste on and off, and your preference will be saved.  Also, Autopaste now strips returns out of the text that is pasted.
  22.      MacJDic now recognizes Japanse numbers in fields where it expects numbers.  (by Japanese numbers, I mean normal arabic numbers entered with the Japanese keyboard).
  23.      The backgrounding feature of MacJDXGen now gives more time to other applications when it is in the background.  It still doesn't update the status window, and isn't completely well behaved, but it works.  Note:  it is much slower when in the background.  Also, it still periodically takes over control for about 30 seconds without giving any time to the foreground application.  I was just realizing that it may cause a crash if it is in the background and it brings up a dialog asking you if you want to create the kanjidic index.  I guess I have something to do for 1.2.1.
  24.      New icons by Luis Poza (the creator of the original icons).  You will probably need to rebuild the desktop to get them to show up.
  25.      I've also rewritten the manual, and this file and the manual were written with Simple Text, so they should support styled text.
